About Us
Breeder and Handler's Name: Karen Horn
Breeds: Mini Lops and Holland Lops
Location: Hackettstown, New Jersey
For-Get-Me-Not Rabbitry is owned by Karen Horn, and received its charter from ARBA on January 14, 1992.
While the rabbitry as a business is only 18 years old, Karen began breeding Mini Lops in June 1989 as a 4-H project. By 1994, she was named District 9 Youth Mini Lop Breeder of the Year, and would win that award another 9 times before going into retirement in 2003. Just before retiring in 2003, she was inducted into the Mini Lop Rabbit Club of America Hall of Fame. Karen has served on several national rabbit Boards, including the Mini Lop Rabbit Club of America, since 1993.
Since 1992, Karen's Mini Lops have won an astounding 367 Best of Breeds and 69 Best In Shows. Karen has placed rabbits at every National show she showed in and won Best Opposite Sex Breed Mini Lop at the American Rabbit Breeders Association National Convention in 1997.
Karen's "retirement" occurred when she left the Nation to study at University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Her studies focused on Medieval History, specifically on various aspects of the animal/human relationship.
Karen returned to rabbit showing in fits and starts after returning to the US in 2007, but due to cross-country moves, was never fully able to delve back into the hobby until 2010. To the surprise of many breeders, she bought a new breed of rabbit--the Holland Lop. After such success in the Mini Lops, she has no intention of getting rid of them, but is looking forward to the new and varied challenges.
Please feel free to contact Karen with any questions at kjhorn@gmail.com. She'll be more than happy to help in anyway.
